Colour: Dark gold with copper hues.
Nose: What a bomb! The first atypical thing is that mix of wet and polished wood but that’s not very surprising after such a long time under the tropics. There’s some wood presence so but it doesn’t overwhelms or dominate, it acts only as a great addition. We have a lot of fruits with citruses such as grapefruits, blood oranges, peaches and lemons, then very (close to over) ripe tropical fruits : mangoes, bananas, pineapples, papayas and passion fruits. We also have some vinegar drops, herbal notes, marzipan, strawberry candies, mint freshness and good dose of glue that remember you that you’re actually in Jamaica if you were confused by that wood. A very nice depth with the tropical ageing usual density. It sounds pretty good!
Mouth: The alcohol integration is very nice with a slight astringence, we must proceed by little sips to keep it smooth. It’s dry and fruity, powerful but not too much. First statement here : the fruity notes turned to candied fruits, they bring a kind of sugary side that balance with the acidulous notes. So we have exotic fruits jam, mangoes, candied lemons, peaches, clementines, pineapples, oranges, overripe bananas, noble wood, passion fruits, bubblegum, glue, solvents, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. At the end of mouth the profile turns to be more salted with grilled sardines and black olives. The long tropical ageing and the ex-bourbon casks made it very well balanced and way rounder than the same vintage/ageing continental releases. That mouth is stunning!
Finish: Very long (surprising isn’t it?) and slightly bitterish. Dark smoke, polished wood, peach jam, grapefruits, peppermint freshness, floral notes, roasted pineapples, camphor, marzipan and some salted notes again.

A very complete profile, less extreme than expected and it’s a great thing to me. An iron fist in a velvet glove, that’s a great summary. No doubt this one is a stunner, very nice selection from the Brothers, Kudos!
