We already tried a lot of those elixirs but it seems that we completely forgot about Caol Ila, so let’s fix this!
Caol Ila 7yo 2011-2019 (57.5%, Elixir Distillers, 2 Refill Sherry Butts, 1901 bottles)
Colour: Deep gold.
Nose: A lot of peat, like.. a lot! Candied citruses, honey and tar. It’s not very balanced!
Mouth: The alcohol integration is very good and the texture is oily. Fat coastal peat, tar, sea salt, brine, iodine, wood smoke, aromatic herbs, campfire and hints of pepper at the end of the mouth. That’s like if you’re near a campfire on the beach!
Finish: A more gentle coastal peat, sea salt and a put out campfire full of cold ashes and wood smoke.
A very nice daily dram for the peat addicts, it’s simple, easy to drink, the alcohol is perfectly integrated and it’s full of peat!
